I got my first laptop back about 10 years ago. It looked like it was supposed to have a disc drive but it didn't. It had an SD card slot, it had a full size keyboard, and a wide range of things that could be plugged in. It lasted me until 2021. It still works, it is just extremely slow and the screen is washed out.
I got a new laptop in 2021. I like this laptop, I'm using it right now. It's a touch screen laptop that comes with a pen. It's how I make my digital art. However, it only has (along with the charger port and the 3.5mm headphone port) 2 USB ports, an HTMI port, a USB-C port, and a microSD card slot. It is also smaller and lacks a separate numpad.
I severely miss a normal sized SD card slot. I need one for my 3DS so I can play ROMs on it, but I haven't been able to download any because I don't have the slot I need. Along with the lack of disc drives on any laptops anymore. I know you can get an external disc drive, and you can get an adapter to use SD cards in place of microSD card slots, but why do I need to spend more money on features that should still be on laptops.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I still love to use discs. I love buying movies on DVD and buying CDs to listen to music. I love being able to actually own a copy of a movie, rather than just buying a licence to play a movie or album. That is all digital purchases are, and they can take that away from you just as fast as you can buy it. It happened before with the people who bought books in the Microsoft store. The Microsoft store closed the books section in the Microsoft store, and everyone who ever bought a book through that service, lost their books. They cannot even read them.
