hello my name is valerie and i like to go places
before i start off NO IM NOT LATE i know its not pride month anymore but in germany the way we do our christopher street days/pride parades usually doesnt match up with pride month so yeahhh;;;
anyway as i already kinda teased I WENT TO MY FIRST PRIDE YESTERDAY :DDDD
i didnt know what i expected, obviously the normal thing of people just being able to be themselves and happy but i was kinda scared of all of the capitalism surrounding pride (at least from what ive heard from a couple friends)
when me and a friend of mine arrived at the place of the protest, this opinion changed pretty quickly. obviously a lot of businesses were there to promote their shit, but there were also a lot of political parties and smaller organizations promoting pride as an anti-capitalist, anti-police protest, which i honestly loved a lot :D
after a couple hours of just looking at every stand, randomly meeting an old friend from my old school, the actual protest started which was honestly a very awesome moment, it was just amazing to see how many people were on the streets (I ESPECIALLY LOVED ALL OF MY FELLOW TRANSFEMS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVED ALL OF YOU IF YOU'RE READING THIS <3333) and the music and everything was just awesome
i do have one critique which is still the fact that pride has become such a capitalistic thing, but i hope that will be able to change by more smaller organizations coming together to appear at the protests in the future :3
it was great finally being able to be myself in public and be recognized for who i am, without having this feeling of discrimination or anything like that (:
below are some pics (#1 my friend (left) and me (right), #2 the stickers i got there)
love you guys
xoxo valerie
