Watched Asteroid City, really fucking good movie, I wrote about it on Twitter so I'll just copy and paste my thoughts here.
Probably the first Wes Anderson movie I've ever watched in full and the first Wes Anderson movie I've seen since watching parts of Hotel Budapest on TV as a child. Now to talk about the obvious then yes this movie looks stunning, even the poster alone looks amazing from Wes' signature style of color grading, perfect cinematography and well timed and planned acting that makes everything feel like a ticking clock. The audio here is fantastic, music plays only when necessary and almost always fits the scene but being usually very faint or inaudible as to not spell it out. The actors played their roles perfectly and I love how 'out of place' the visual effects are. The main part of the story doesn't pick up until half-way but really it's message of the movie is about nillihism and as a character sums up the plot as "I don't get it" only to receive a reply of "You're doing it perfectly". It's smart and brilliant and if it wasn't for Spider-Verse would be my movie of the year so far
