Art Gallery PT.2 - The Artfight 2023 Experience

This is my art gallery blog used as another spot where I share my projects. I kinda converted this blog to "Art Gallery PT.2" since it fits in with it's funky format.

So I'll be talking about the 2023 artfight art trade event in here and my experience with it, I'll share some art as well!

Artfight is a art trade event that goes on for 1 month and there's two teams battling during that event. You have to submit your character sheets on there so ppl would have something to draw for you. Each art submission so called "attack" gives points to the team and there are many different criteria to the artfight submissions that will determine the point count. You can do friendly fire by submitting an attack on a person that is on the same team. The new thing about this year's artfight is that you get points for doing friendly fires (though it's a very small amount of points) and that you get to choose a team before the artfight starts (I heard previous years were just random teams given to you) !! You can also set up your profile with all the crazy shit like stamps, badges of which art fights you participated in, art fight templates, thumbnails for your attacks so you could recognize the attack you did in which year and for which team, you can also just add whatever you'd like to add.

So this is my first year of artfight so far! I haven't tried a large scale art trade event like this at all!! I only did secret santas before and those were just 1 art trade for 1 person and depending on the event you take part in it will determine how much effort you'll have to put to the art.

Plus my art friend encouraged and invited me to participate in the artfight. 

So here's some random bits from artfight:

• June 23rd TEAMS get announced and it's just Werewolfs and Vampires. It's like we're having halloween in summer time! Cool announcement animation tho ngl.
• I upload my 5 characters into artfight. I kinda like to think of it being a challenge of uploading 5 new characters for the next art fight :v  . So my characters for this year are: Tatsu0ni persona, Infernal Cinders, Voxes, Mad Puppeteer, Caelis the Celestial Fox.

This does feel like a encouragement for Werewolf furries to draw humans and Vampires to draw furries XDDD

• I chose the team Werewolves early on before the artfight starts, cause *cough cough* I AM THE OBVIOUS FURRY that also likes to mention the Nelward's song "The Werewolf" and put his lyrics in my profile.
• The discord is just flowing with activity during this time! So you can checkout or share attacks, profiles, or just message ppl that want "insert x character here" for their attacks.
• During artfight I try to be somehow active by commenting on attacks/characters/profiles or just messaging in the discord server. 
• My first attack on July 2nd ( kinda sucks that for my timezone the artfight starts quite late ), I attacked my friend that invited me to the event with an animation of her character's head with the reference of Omori discord's server sticker of Kel thinking about hamburger.
  The second attack on July 2nd was a quick friendly fire for Mayo (FUN FACT THE MAD LAD SOMEHOW MADE AN ACCOUNT WITH THE NAME MAYO EVEN THOUGH THERE'S ANOTHER ACCOUNT WITH THE SAME NAME, BRO STRAIGHT UP BREAKING ARTFIGHT XDD). Also he posts all of his variants of Mayo in the character sheets (some of them I've done in drawpile)... ALL MAYO IS CANON GUYS!!!
• July 3rd I do a bigger attack with some cool item head character. This is where I started making my own brushes, I needed a instrument string brush so I made that.
• July 5-7th I decided to do shitpost attacks, those were funny, but not high effort. 
• July 10,14th I did some serious attacks and again I've been making new brushes.
  
• On the day 13th I got dmed in artfight by zavinella with the word "Vanilla" and fun fact this user finds ppl on discord and just dms them the word "vanilla" (SOMEONE GOT A WORD "STRAWBERRY" SINCE THE PERSON SENT A COMMENT "STRAWBERRY" on Zavanella's profile  XDDDD). This, this right here is truly epic and reminder there are some users that just like to troll around and do some funny shit in this event. There's also a user with name Heisenbergchan who has all this femboyed Heisenberg themed profile. 
  
• July 15 I notice a cool artist MDEV0 who does these unique mixed media art that gives me Hylics, indie games and certain youtube content vibes. I gave them a follow from which they did a quick attack on me! He made a 3d head of Mad puppeteer and photoshoped a body out of feathers, I love it!!! I gave them a quick revenge experimental art piece with his two characters that reminded me of Yume Nikki n Omori games.
• July 17 the serious attack I've done killed me, feeling a bit burnt out from it.
• July 20 EVENING WHAT HAVE I CAUSED?!?!? I MADE EVERYONE TALK ABOUT PREGNANCY
• July 21 Zevanilla got banned :(  RIP, their message will live on in my artfight dms.

• 28th day Takaia stepped down as owner of Artfight, there's other ppl in charge.
  
• People do be liking my Caelis character since he has 5 attacks (the most) by now. He got included in a Barbie mass attack as of last time XD
• So far nobody attacked the character Voxes, tho I do want to update her ref at some point since her design ain't final.
• Kinda saddened by the fact that not all of the big attacks didn't get attacked back except for the Devogamer's, VicAsh's, Tomato_temmie's attacks and they looked stunning! Tho some ppl just had to revenge a lot or some other circumstances happened that they didn't attack back.  
• Ngl I initially planed to attack all my bookmarked characters and followers, that didn't completely happen XD.
• I changed my artfight template 3 times (here's how it looked)
  
  
• It's fun to look around the attacks, users, characters on the artfight website. You might stumble upon something cool or funny. 
• My bookmarks at this momment. Maybe I'll get to doing some of them next year XD
  
  
• I'm sometimes amazed there's ppl that just have done 1 attack and they got like bagillion defenses. I just  saw someone getting so many attacks (hundreds in just this year's artfight) not long ago while they've done just a couple of them. I guess it's the fact they follow so many ppl.
• I uploaded some characters I did in drawpile on the last day to see if anyone would attack XD , but nah that didn't happen lol
• Winner team will be announced on august 12th day

These aren't my bestest of art, but hey it's a great warmup to getting back at art. I'm cringing at the fact I drew the hand the wrong way in one of the drawings XDDDDDDD

Alright that's how artfight rolled for me, hopefully I'll survive another year without my mental state killing me to do another year of artfight. Thanks for checkin' out the blog!
