Sugar daddy 2023 movie starrig Bayoumi Fouad movie review

!WARNING! SPOILERS FOR THE SUGAR DADDY 2023 MOVIE IN THE BLOG!!

Hihi everyone! How's everyone doing? Good I hope!

So seeing the title may have shocked you,"a movie called sugar daddy?" Yup...it's real..(unfortunately),now you may all be wondering what this movies all about and to that I instruct you all to get a snack,this blog is gonna be long,now a little disclaimer this movie will contain spoilers,click off the blog if you don't want any spoilers,I'll be going slightly in depth so spoilers are inevitable,now this movie is a roller coaster and trust me when I saw the poster at my local Cinema,I was quite confused and intrigued here's the poster:

Now...I immediately recognised atleast 2 actors,(Hamdi El-Mirghani the guy in the pink shirt and glasses and Bayoumi Fouad who's front and center) both played in a few movies and TV shows therefore I recognised them,the rest were new to me,so I honestly got curious about this whole movie,then I got the opportunity of gold to watch the movie and youch...um...sure was interesting but I do have a few bones to pick,now I would like to share the IMBD description before I start so everyone gets a rough idea of the movie,"Shawki starts an affair with a dancer, Natalia, and takes her on a weekend getaway in Sahl Hasheesh. When his sons find out about his secret, they decide to salvage their parents' relationship and travel to Sahl Hasheesh to confront him.",now with this description the movie itself sounds okay,but honestly when I went to watch it,I honestly enjoyed it but not as much as other movies,which was a red flag considering Bayoumi Fouad (Shawki aka the Sugar daddy) was starring in this movie,he is a well know actor in Egypt,his acting is raw talent and he nailed the role but my issue was with the writing mostly,the beginning of the movie was set in an award show,where Hamdi El-Mirghani's character gets rewarded for creating an invention,said invention takes people's snores and uses them to charge their phones,his character is an inventor and a very skilled one,I hate how this skill of his was only seen in 2 scenes and one of those scenes was extremely odd,so honestly that is the first issue I had,his character could've had huge potential,(for example they could've had his character create some sort of gadget disguised as a bowtie or pin,he could've given that gadget to Shawki and he could use the gadget to make sure Shawki wasn't getting himself in trouble)

Another bone I have to pick is how poorly written the daughter in law is..,she's a "Loud = funny" character,extremely jealous to a very werid extent,for context her husband is a women's health doctor,there were scenes of her barging in her husband's office,thinking he is cheating on her,she could've been a better character,helping both her husband and her husband's brother with getting Shawki away from Natalia,she had potential to be less of a jealous character and more of a helpful one.

Now...I honestly have to mention 3 scenes that have left me confused,scene 1 was basically how a girl Hamdi El-Mirghani's character wanted to speak with in a bar,got her phone wet,how?,well Hamdi El-Mirghani's character spilled a beverage on her phone accidentally or something along those lines,he immediately tells the Barista to get some rice,he placed the girl's phone in the rice and it got fixed,this was the scene I referred to earlier,there could've bee a different scene that displayed Hamdi El-Mirghani's character's inventor skills better,like maybe the girl tells Hamdi El-Mirghani's character how she is dealing with an issue of some kind and needs an invention that can help her,(for example she is a heavy sleeper and is unable be awoken by a normal alarm),so Hamdi El-Mirghani's character creates a invention and gives it to her,that would've been much better,scene 2 and 3 are both towards the end,Shawki randomly gets sick and he even lies to his wife,scene 3 is how the daughter in law faints and turns out she is pregnant,I feel like the pacing for those scenes and pacing in the movie in general is fast,like it doesn't make sense at all,not to mention how the scene generally just didn't have much impact in the story it was just there,I feel like it was added to make the movie longer,same for scene 2,it didn't have much impact on the story either,I feel like if those scenes weren't there,no one would notice.

The extremely excessive use of music is just bad,the lack of dialogue caused by it is bad,a person who reviewed the movie on YouTube(Beta3 Aflam)stated how if the movie ever gets uploaded on YouTube,there would be a huge amount of copyright claims due to the music,I honestly felt like I was watching a music video or something,it was so excessive,like there were about 5 or 4 music segments,movies I've watched usually have 2 or 1,it's excessive,I feel like it was done just to make the movie longer,I got slightly annoyed by the segments from what i recall and honestly,which honestly looking back at it surprises me since I love music but did not love the segments at all.

Beta3 Aflam also stated how the movie wasn't really meant for Cinema,rather meant for YouTube or meant to be broadcasted on TV channels,which I honestly am more in the middle when it comes to that,like yes it isn't really that Cinema worthy but I don't feel like it being broadcasted on TV would be any better,since now from what I've seen,people mainly use YouTube on their tvs,TV channels are a bit restrictive and YouTube is much better as t gives viewers control in what they want to watch rather than watch what is on,I feel like it being on YouTube would probably be an okay option.

The cliffhanger ending: yeah you read that right,a movie like this has a cliffhanger ending,now cliffhanger endings are okay,I don't mind a cliffhanger ending,but here it just feels off,after all these events we don't get an ending?,the ending scene went like this,Shawki's wife speaks about the whole ordeal of her husband being a sugar daddy,we get a strange twist of how the guy that was in Sahl Hasheesh,(the guy in the black sleeveless top in the back in the poster),is some sort of relationship therapist?,he tells her to do what he told her to do or something along those lines to which she agrees,then the movie ends,now I have a small theory,I have a feeling a sequel may be in the works called "Sugar mommy" that is basically about how Shawki's wife becomes a Sugar mommy mainly to spite Shawki in some sort of way,now this hasn't been confirmed but this could be the reason for the cliffhanger?,this movie was quite a roller coaster and I wish we were given an ending that wasn't a cliffhanger.
