was watching girlfriends (netflix) and i do not like darnell. he’s just not it and you know maya stays gassing up her man like he’s a dime a dozen right? but then you see him and his personality and it’s just like….this him? i mean i guess girl that’s your man and feel free to stick beside him but you can do better.

Tbh Darnell was selfish. He wanted Maya to stay the same, I think he saw potential in Maya and kind of envied her for it. She wanted to grow, and I think Joan saw that potential in her and that's why Darnell hated Joan so much.

!! and the reason why she does that is because she did not know anything (romantically) outside of Darnell. She literally was married to him since she was 17. That's why she felt because she had a man that she had it together. When really she didn't have anything BUT a man. Mostly because he really ain't let her do nothing else. At least before the they broke up the first time.
