I have not been listening to music nearly as much lately and its weird. Music has always been very important to me, i almost want to classify it as a special interest but im not diagnosed so take that with a grain of salt. But its on that level, or close to it
When I was younger i'd have headphones in all throughout the school day, and 2020-2022 probably even moreso.Β
I guess its one of my main coping mechanisms. I never considered it one until recently, cuz ever since april im the happiest ive ever been, so there arent as many moments where i feel the need to lay motionless in bed and blast underoath in my ears, or stay up till 4 am on the wayback machine looking at old music blogs. cuz most of my days im like.... outside. lol
BUT I MISS IT
music and emo stuff in particular is still my biggest hyperfixation ever and the fact that ive stopped learning new things about it or looking for bands and stuff feels WROOOONGGG
my boyfriend literally asked me to tell him a random fact about it recently, BC we're both ADHD and as we all know that is the main form of communication amongst neurodivergent people, but my mind actually went BLANK. mostly because of the adhd BUT ALSO BC I HAVENT BEEN THINKING ABOUT ITΒ
(i eventually went with "skrillex was in an emo band" because that one always blows people's minds HAHAHAHA)
I havent lost interest in it completey, i think thats impossible. Even at my happiest i still have moments where life is too much for me and i gotta lay motionlessly in bed and loop one of the same three albums i always pick for hours on end to cope with it all. Its kinda just been put on a back burner while i focus on certain life-changing events that have been happening.
also i've been CD collecting! theres a place near me called Movie Trading Company and its so great for that. they have.... SO MUCH SHIT. SOOOOOOOOOO MANY CDS TO LOOK THRU. I posted some finds on twitter, but a couple weeks ago i actually managed to find Sempiternal, There Is A Hell..., and SUICIDE SEASON AT THE SAME TIME!! YES FUCKING SUICIDE SEASON!! im so stoked about that find. So yeah, ill never actually stop caring about this stuff. Its just been weird lately. Not as much time to myself..
In terms of listening habits, ive offically looped back to the stuff i listened to in high school. basically just surface level butt-rock and numetal, with a few obscure ones from my more modern playlists thrown in there. I guess bc i havent listened to that stuff in forever it feels fresher than the stuff i generlly prefer. weird how that works.
in any case, i need my brainrot back. if you somehow made it to the end of this pls comment some music recommendations, preferably from one of the genres in my bio but im open to anything :3

I remember going through a period of it not long ago and it feeling wrong too, though I felt bad, not happy, not listening was because I felt so bad I had no energy for it. When I go back to old stuff for a while it does feel fresh again. Listening to just new stuff all the time burns out, you know?
I've gone to CD Warehouse near the uni for cds. I guess I can try Movie Trading Company, there seems to be a few around.
hm idk if you know these already but these two immediately came to my mind

I see. o_o My mom apparently had a membership when I was a baby, so she knew when I asked. I also have another cd shelf now so I got space for cds and movies.
Awesome! 83
