wht is netflix's drive to survive?

i watched so much of this show sober that watching it baked is a good reminder of how delusional it is. it was such a wonderful experience. i must recount it. there's a few angles i want to come at this with, but i should give some context first.

so i started my t-break when i went to italy for a school trip in mid-may. pot's illegal in italy but lucky for me, an upcoming surgery that i needed to kick the plant for was coming up after the trip. what better time to start? get my lungs fresh and take my too-big boobs on one last international adventure. post boob i'm high again :) hehe

- disclaimer that i had not heard much about f1 driving ever. watched and played x-box nascar a little bit, but from what i understood it was just european shit.
- i'd heard about the show from a sorority president who gave it a lot of hype and said her family had been into it for a long time and the hot drivers are a good incentive.
- i started watching on my way to italy and watched the first three seasons with friends over wine and lots of complaining about our professor. we agreed the melodrama is a huge appeal, and another time maybe i'll talk about some of the more complex merits of the show like the attempts to ooze masculinity while shoving ur tiny body in that car.
- netflix is interested in making a compelling tv show. they absolutely have an incentive to misrepresent people, their relationships, etc etc. but the choppy editing and beats that netflix knows how to hit make it a really delightful watch.
-f1 benefits because it sees a huge leap in interest, i wouldn't say "primarily" but definitely interested in markets... north america. it seems pretty agreed upon in online comment sections that it's an inconsistent show that does not show a lot of what really goes on, but it's made to teach the broad strokes. saying you watch that show online is like a hazing ritual.

with all of that out of the way, here r some thoughts: this show will suck anyone's dick if they sit in front of the camera for more than ten seconds. how about russian fertilizer oligarch buying a team and his son getting a seat? or irl doug dimmadome lawrence stroll? could we interest u in a team manager who's probably writing the script himself and getting sadistic pleasure out of the puppet show? what about a 30 year old man made to be called 'doomed by the narrative' online? we even have ferrari. it brings a lot to the board. just finished the episode about monza 2021 (4x5. it's giving remember the titans. it's giving miracle. they could have used the rocky soundtrack for that celebration with daniel ricciardo saying "i never left".)
as a show, it's a good gateway between fantasy and reality. case in point, i've watched a fair amount of the f1 2023 season. and returned to playing x-box nascar as well.
