The platform is good 8/10

The platform

The platform is the best movie in existance.

Premise.

Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia is the director of the science fiction thriller "The Platform". The plot takes place in "The Hole," a vertical prison where people are kept in a tower-like building. A platform carrying food descends from the top level to the bottom of the the structure, stopping for a little period of time at each level, and each level has two people on it. There is ample food available to the convicts on the higher floors, but less for those on the lower levels.

Story.

The story follows Goreng, a new prisoner, as he attempts to survive in The Hole's terrible and degrading environment. The lower-level captives are left hungry and in despair as the platform drops each level and gets increasingly empty. As the captives battle to survive and retain their humanity, the movie examines the power relationships, primal urges and moral decisions they make.

The message.

The film's deeper significance centers on a critique of capitalism and social inequity. The vertical prison structure symbolizes a figurative social hierarchy, with the upper levels representing the privileged elites and the lower levels for the oppressed and impoverished. The lack of resources at the lower levels illustrates how wealth and resources are distributed unequally in a capitalist system.

It poses questions regarding empathy, social responsibility, and the ability for change to occur among people. It implies that social standing can significantly alter in a split second, and the movie serves as a warning about the dangers of untamed capitalism as well as the value of compassion and solidarity.
