| CUARTETO DE NOS
> Hi! Welcome to my blog about my favorite band: El Cuarteto de Nos! This Uruguayan band from the 80s uses genres like rock, pop "alterlatino", and hip-hop in their songs!
> They started writing songs against politics from then. Still, they got popular with the album "Raro", which is translated as "Weird", and they even got nominated for Premios Latinos Grammys, Grammys from Latin America.
> Later, they wrote other albums like Bipolar, Porfiriado, Habla tu Espejo, Apocalipsis Zombie, Jueves, y Lamina Once.
SONGS
> In this section I will introduce you to my favorite songs from the band and show you how I interpret the song!
> El Hijo de Hernández (Bipolar) (2009)
* This song is called "the son of Hernández", but in the chorus, the singer states that he is NOT his son. People keep telling this guy that he has the same last name as Hernández, in his papers he says that he is his son, and they tell him to be like his father (Hernández), but the singer says "No, I'm not going to follow this lie, I am myself, and I will not change".
* Later he reveals that he is Hernandez's son, but says that he is not because he does not want to be compared to his father. Everyone calls him "Hernández's son" instead of his real name, so he wants to separate from him so they see him as he is, and not because his father is "Hernández"
* So, in summary, this song is about a guy who enters the same job as his dad; The father is very popular at his job because he does his job very well, so when they see his son come in, everyone expects him to be like the father, but the son does not want those expectations to be placed on him just because he is Hernández's son.
> Ya no sé que hacer conmigo (Raro) (2006)
* This song is called "I don't know what to do with me anymore", here the singer (who is a separate character) tells about all the things he did or experienced, some examples may be playing the piano, cleaning his room, changing his hair color, reading books, planting coffee in Nicaragua, playing Russian roulette, being an alcoholic, putting on a piercing, getting a tattoo, throwing stones at a place to later have to work in that place, etc., he says that he has done everything to such an extent. point that he doesn't know what else to do with himself.
> Todos pasan por mi rancho (Porfiriado) (2012)
* This song is called "everyone goes through my ranch", the singer talks about how he has a ranch that he has decorated, changed, and cleaned for people to come to, but they only tell him that it's beautiful and they don't go to see the ranch in the that this person has worked so hard, then he says that there are times when in desperation, he leaves the door of the ranch open so that at least one thief enters or someone who has mistaken the ranch enters, but even so, nobody wants to enter.
* That is the literal explanation, but the ranch is a metaphor to refer to himself. He talks about how he has done everything to look presentable to others so that people talk to him, but they only tell him that he looks like a good person and they don't talk to him to get to know him. He is so alone that he goes into despair and he doesn't care if the person who talks to him has bad intentions, it is enough for him that someone talks to him, but for some reason, they don't even talk to him for bad intentions.

Good blog! Personally, I never really liked this band, they tend to have a sound that in my opinion is either overly simple or generic and it probably doesn't help that, at least here, there are or were lots of new bands trying to replicate their sound or general style.
Their biggest strength lies in the lyrics themselves, I believe.

It's understandable! Not everyone likes the same type of music!
I mainly made this blog for people who listen to a genre similar to the band and who don't know El Cuarteto de Nos.
I like to investigate the meanings or the stories behind the songs so I thought I'd add it to the blog!
What bands (or artists) do you like? I would like to meet other artists to listen to

Speaking of uruguayan bands too? NTVG sounds really good, it's more my style.
Of course they can also be guilty of what I mentioned before (generic or repetitive stuff and so on), and even nowadays they get criticized for the radical change of sound they had in comparison to their old albums, but personally I think they still sound good. The lyrics of their songs are also quite good!
