Issues I've observed with Spacehey

Forums:

They are pretty much a wasteland because of the way they operate. Clicking on a forum automatically brings you to the top topics instead of the most recent topics, leaving recent forum topics with very little engagement or acknowledgement.

You only get notifications if you are a topic creator - there is no way to find if someone has answered you in a topic or even what topics you've posted in unless you go through and manually check the forums.

Which brings me to another point - the amount of low-quality shitposting, overlap and lack of filtration. People make random posts into unrelated forums that are borderline non-sensical sometimes, and even make the exact same post on multiple different forums. WHICH GOES TO SHOW that there is serious overlap with some of the forums. The Web, HTML, Tech forum, SpaceHey forum and Helping each other forum tend to all be flooded with the same repetitive questions about basic CSS. And I'm not really blaming people for that since it is just so difficult to see which questions have been asked/answered before.

Blogs:

These have the exact same problem, highlighting the 'top entries' before the recent ones or even your subscriptions. Since engagement is determined by comments as well as kudos, this leaves the first blogs your faced with sometimes being highly controversial, hateful or upsetting content which people often comment on. this doesnt exactly leave me wanting to engage with or explore blogs.

Defunct art section:

Has been neglected since 2021 and has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! It could be used to showcase the talents of many of the artists on here, actually having a place to highlight their work instead of having to resort to blog posts/forum posts that may be neglected.

Groups:

Spacehey groups are just borderline depressing to read through! they're such a wasteland. Groups have the exact same issue Forums have - no group notifs, 'top topics' etc.

Groups should have chatrooms! A lot of group forum posts are taken up by people seeking friends (and again being met with little engagement which causes disinterest) so there should be automated chatrooms when a group is created which the moderators are responsible for moderating. This will prevent the 'seeking friends' posts and ACTUALLY encourage engagement in groups.

Another feature which would be sick - polls! Polls would add so much to groups/forums and would really encourage engagement and talk!

Finally - this.
