anyone else here had a rough school life?

ive written about my primary school experience before on here but ill give a quick rundown; basically i was regularly bullied by both teachers and students and i was very depressed as a result, and the school higher ups didnt take me seriously when i tried to tell them what was happening to me, so for my whole time in primary school i was miserable. has anyone else here been through shitty stuff like this? i know its kinda a rough subject, but to be blunt, i dont like public/mainstream schools, at least british and american ones, and i feel like a lot of the time they break the spirits of children. anybody else or just me?

Because of being autistic, lots of people made of fun of me. I was an outcast and all the friends I had usually ditched me for the more popular kids. I remember hearing people call me slurs behind my back, it was horrible. The best thing about the school I went to though was that it was quite small, and every year the annoying people left one by one. Now I have a good amount of friends and everything is pretty chill so I have a happy ending for the most part.

As a Queer child with AuDHD and having graduated in the mid 2010s. I certainly can remember my experience. It was rough, oddly enough high school got way better, I think the other kids stopped being such assholes to me and gave me some respect.

Elementary and (especially) Middle School though? Disasters. Between those creeps and my home life I really was in shambles.

I don't remember where it was said. But school is designed to ease us into work/prison life. To teach us things practical to the economy, but not necessarily to ourselves or social health.

It is no wonder then (especially to neurodivergent or otherwise oppressed children) school feels so awful.

completely agree. as an autistic kid myself its just horrible the way we are treated in schools. its like they dont see us as human. im so sorry about your experience, i hope things have gotten better

Things have gotten a bit better for me in my adult life. Things are still hard, but it's manageable.

At least now I get to choose my friends, learn about myself, and actually try to make a life that I am comfortable and happy in.
