VAPORWAVE - an “nonsense” ramble

A gif containing a pink and yellow sun with a purple-ish blue background.

First blog on my acc n I talk about VAPORWAVE !!! Might be a jumble of mess because I’m speaking from the top of my head n it’s not revised at all LOL. It’s a special interest of mine and i genuinely think abt it like every day. It’s such a special thing to me since I found out about it during 2017 one summer evening n it stuck with me since, helping me with my ups n downs. So many hours listened, so many days gone by having some banger chill music to listen to. I’ve exposed myself to plenty of Vaporwave artists n it’s so interesting on how VAST the music genre is, so many sub-genres and endless music.

The movement started (or more so began it’s baby steps) as early as probably the 90’s ? But didn’t have a term / genre to call it up until the early 2010’s on the Internet. Peeved on how the wiki entry for Vaporwave calls it a “microgenre” when it’s such a HUGE thing of music with so many smaller categories tied to it. Every Youtube Vaporwave mixes are always so specific and the songs put in them just make so much sense and FIT, because of the fact that there’s so many different types of music. From Mallsoft, a nod to muzak that gives the feeling of wandering around an empty mall where there are 5 people in that store, to Synthwave, cool upbeat songs to drive in the sunset to. Shoutsout to Deep Sea Current on YouTube for providing the most best Vaporwave mixes out there !! I recently found out their channel through chance n have been listening to every upload since !!

Vaporwave is a very nostalgic genre of music for me and I feel it is the same for others, especially when some songs (typically from Catsystem Corp) utilizes audio from the weather channel that’s around the 90’s to early 2000’s. Plus with the fact that plenty of songs use samples from 80’s music, either slowing it down (where most people who arent familiar with Vaporwave think that’s all there is to it) or just simply remixing it, where that’s most likely categorized to Future Funk.

Something that’s disappointing for me even though I’ve loved Vaporwave for Years is that I have yet to truly incorporate it into my clothing style. I don’t really have a clue on how exactly I can do that without buying clothes online since I don’t like to do online shopping for clothes but rather accessories. Maybe I’ll try and see some online shops, I have heard of Vapor95, seems to be a popular Vaporwave clothes store ! If anyone has any suggestions, it’s very much appreciated ! Just kinda clueless on how go go about that, I assume it’s just a lot of 90’s type fits.

Anyways, I think that’s about it for my ramblings. Kinda fun to just babble on about something I’m passionate about.
