Well this is my first blog. I never really have much to say, so I'll post my impressions and opinions about the books I've read this year.
Title: Warm Bodies
Autor: Isaac Marion
Genre: drama, fiction, romance, comedy
I'm not going to lie, I cried a little at the end. It's the most beautiful monster romance novel I've ever read, I can't finish expressing what R and Julie have made me feel, especially R, who has enthralled me and has broken my mind with his reflections and his crises.
The story is set in a world that reflects the way our society lives today, as zombies; and ironically it is a zombie (our protagonist, R) who yearns to live more than the humans themselves. So, this is a journey in which R learns to live again, going hand in hand with Julie, a human who clings to continue living in a world in which she is simply surviving.
Favorite quotes:
«I put a hand on my chest, over my heart. My ‘heart’. Does that pitiful organ still represent anything? It lies motionless in my chest, pumping no blood, serving no purpose, and yet my feelings still seem to originate inside its cold walls. My muted sadness, my vague longing, my rare flickers of joy. They pool in the centre of my chest and seep out from there, diluted and faint, but real.»
«This has become clearer and clearer to me recently, a desire so sharp and focused I can hardly believe it’s mine: I don’t want to die. I don’t want to disappear. I want to stay.»
