Tears of the Kingdom story

Since the release i have been playing TOTK non stop but the story feels like a template and not the actual thing? each of the sages have no differences in their stories outside of the sage themself. I wish the monsters causing the upheaval where more personal (maybe a evil version of the sages or someone they know, that would tie in with the 'evil' zelda appearing everywhere). I just wish it did more, it is so capable of having a more complex story
