To the girl who was a girl with me, thank you for everything.
Sometimes I say I miss the summer but what I really mean is summer 5 years ago, Just like when I say I miss having friends I mean I miss having friends like you who were never touch and go.
You did not braid my hair (we were very trial and error) but you did hold it when I threw up from my night terrors, you did not see me cry but all the same, you knew I felt a girlish pain.
For what seemed like forever we did what only girls could, and found solace in the feeling that no others but us understood. It was me and you and you and I, and I often wonder what life would've been if we did not try.
5 years ago we drifted apart, those 5 years I wished I could tell you about the aching in my heart. How when I woke up from a nightmare I imagined you there, how when those people did what they did I felt so scared.
To the girl who was a girl with me, thank you for everything. I hope you find this letter, I hope you had fared better, and I hope you remember--
how we were girls together.

i'm honestly speechless. it reminded me of a friend of mine and we were just like that, we acted like girls. i thought our friendship would last forever and it's been literally 7 years since she just started pretending i didn't exist. she was special to me, but i believe i was not so special to her. i know that this text is something personal to you, but somehow it managed to reach an issue of mine that is very personal.

Firstly thank you for the comment, I haven't been active recently so I'm just seeing this; also I'm glad you were able to connect personally with it! This obviously came from a very emotional place where I knew it was one of those things multiple people could relate too and its usually that sense of community and understanding I try to incorporate into my writing :) Friendships are tricky even more so than most other relationships since you never really expect to lose a friend so I understand those almost dreamlike memories and nostalgia someone has over a lost friend, and I also hope that you have accepted and made peace with your emotions. <3

don't worry about that. honestly his writing is impeccable and he has a very beautiful style of his own. yes. old friendships is a very sensitive subject for me. but i think that's part of being human. i think i didn't make peace with these feelings that these lost friends made me feel. i hope someday i can change that but thank you.
