so ik it's stupid to talk about actual happenings on here because spacehey is all about 2000s, but hear me out please
apparently mark decided to make an app that's extremly similar to twitter and not only that — it's side by side connected with instagram
it's connected in a way that when singing up to an app you'll automactically connect with any of your instagram accounts by choosing which one you want to connect (but in case you have only 1 account, you won't have to see this step)
and when you enter the app it gives instagram mixed with twitter vibes and the design is so simple to the point that you'll go insane (speaking from experience)

design
so as i said before — the design is trash
it's too simple to handle, it feels like a twitter rip-off, i feel like in a white void where the only thing i can find is ppl who actually like this app (but in the end it's their opinion so-)
functionality
functionality is good for now, nothing glitches, you can post comments and posts without a problem and you can follow and like posts and comments without a problem
notifications are okay, you get every single one of notifications and you don't have one of those uneccesarry notifications that notify you about what other users do on instagram
but one thing that itches my eye is feed
feed is too clogged up, it has both following and recommended feed, and even if your following posts something you can actually find only 1-2 or maybe nothing from the ppl you follow
recommended feed mixed with following is annoying tbh, and you know what else is annoying? the refreshing function
when you read a post on your feed, for like 3 minutes, the feed refreshes and you can't find the post anymore, if it happens on instagram obviously it'll happen in this new app too
the feature to click above to see new posts (from twitter ofc) sometimes doesen't work, so obviously, it's a disaster
another thing about functionality is that you can't search for topics like you can on twitter, mark really said "i'm not like other girls developers"
it's stupid, you can only search for users and that's it and the following and recommended feed is mixed up
also i heard that some people want dms in this app... i don't agree with them because this app is connected with instagram, and if you have dms on instagram you don't need em in threads, also you can chat w ppl in threads too no?
why do i use it?
1. i wanted to see what is this app all about, i guessed it was a copy of twitter and i was right
2. i want to see where will this project go, and as far as i can predict, it'll either be worse or better than twitter, no in between
3. i wanted to hate on mark & ilon, not agressevly but in a way to express how dumb they are actually and how they act like kids competing eachother and how they ruined everything we had in the past
conclusion
this app is stupid because it's a copy of twitter, it's made for a compete and everything mark creates it's a copy of something and it's useless basically

i can't judge for myself if it's good or bad because it's not launched in the EU yet
other than that i feel a bit negatively about it bc i'd rather see decentralized open-source networks (such as mastodon) take the spotlight rather than another app by an already established company with too much power :c

threads was released a month ahead of schedule to capitalize on the fact that elon musk had put rate limits of how many tweets you could view a day.
(at the time threads was released, non verified accounts on twitter had a limit of 600 tweets a day, which you could easily hit within 10-15 minutes of scrolling.)
i don't know about you, but it certainly sends a spark of irritation into my system when a billionaire buys a completely free to use, socially important app, fires nearly all the staff, strips the app of the features that make it good to put them behind a paywall, and gives bootlickers that pay $8 an algorithmic bump so that all their comments are at the top of every post.

a company created an app that 100 million + people joined within days. it never once crashed, glitched out, or had any issues. that in itself is amazing. any complaint you have, anything you says about certain features - they will come. every other app you use has added features slowly over years, yet this one should have everything you want out of the box?
i love posts like this. kids sitting in their moms basement acting like they could have done this - create an app and get 100 million people on it in just a few days - when in reality they are just chronically online shitposters.

it seem that you're defending mark's actions, his stupid copying and unoriginality, and his childish actions, let me explain: "if i can't buy it, i'll make my own version"
the same situation is with elon too, he's the same type of guy who will do anything childish as a milionaire.
