Recently I started getting interested in radios and such so I wanted to try listening to a satellite or something.
After reading about the topic online, I found out that I can listen to the ISS with a simple handheld radio which costs like 30 dollars.
I used the website N2YO.com to find out when the ISS passes over my head :D so I can go outside and try listening to it. Sadly it usually comes at 1-2 AM so I wont be able to do this regularly. x(
The downlink frequency of the ISS is 145.800 MHz FM btw :3
Also, I recommend turning of the squelch function which mutes noise/faint signals so we can hear the faintest of signals!!!
When the station was nearby I tuned my handheld BAOFENG radio to 145.800 MHz and started listening. I could hear a faint transmission which was awesome. I'm not sure what I heard but it cool regardless.
I think I would benefit from a better antenna so I might get one at some point :D
