(This is going off of the ALW musical/movie)
Christine Daaè doesn't make, any choices in her life; like...
It wasn't her choice to play Elisa in Hannibal. Meg and Madame Giry made that choice for her.
It wasn't her choice whether or not to go to dinner with Raoul.
It wasn't her choice to leave The Phantom's lair after the unmasking; granted, the unmasking was her own choice. But what if she wanted to stay after it? What if she was shocked by his face and scared because he threw her like a ragdoll, and after the initial fright she wanted to stay?
It wasn't her choice to play the countess in Il Muto.
It wasn't her choice to play Aminta in Don Juan. It wasn't even her choice to be in Don Juan. It was sort of her choice to unmask him but given the situation and "every hope and every prayer rests on" her now, it technically also wasn't her choice.
IT WASN'T EVEN HER CHOICE TO LEAVE THE PHANTOM IN THE END! She kissed him and then he KICKED THEM OUT. What if she wanted to stay? What if that kiss was the mark of her choice? But NO. The Phantom kicked them out. THE FINAL DECISION OF WHO SHE WOULD END UP WITH WASN'T EVEN HER CHOICE!!
And in the ALW squeal (Love Never Dies), Madame Giry and Raoul have the AUDACITY to say that Christine had a choice in the final decision.
Madame Giry says/sings in the song 'Mother, Did You See?', "She chose Raoul, chose to make a new start". Like NO, SHE DIDN'T. The Phantom made that choice for her.
And Raoul says/sings in 'Devil Take The Hindmost', "I won her long ago". NO, YOU DIDN'T. SHE DIDN'T CHOOSE ANYONE.
