The Desolate House

This is yet another test. Heyo! I’m still trying to figure this out, but it seems quite cool. Anyways, I’ll post a random passage I wrote a while ago.

The Desolate House

Rob glanced upon the decrepit residence with a feeling of dismay. The house was long abandoned, and the disarray of it was obvious. Its paint, once striped with a bright baby blue and pastel white, had degraded to glum shades of gray. Moss creeped on every surface of the house, and the smell of mold and mildew became obvious when he approached the dampened, termite-ridden wood. Some of the shingles on the roof were missing, others cracked, all dusty and cluttered with dirt. Rob could almost taste the musty atmosphere that seemed to encase him within. This entire house was in a repulsive state of decay, and it disgusted him before he had even walked in.

He was tasked with finding antique relics, and was given the night to search within the house before it was demolished. The reasoning behind this house being abandoned was not disclosed in any direct way to him, but at most Rob was aware of the house once belonging to an elderly woman named Patricia. She was said to have been bright as a star even during tough times. She had grandchildren, and lived in this house with them before one day she simply vanished. No sign of her whereabouts, no explanation to where she might be, nothing at all. From there, things seemed to get worse within her family, but Rob wasn’t here to care about family dramatics. His mind was focused on simply selling novel objects from the past and nothing more, so the past behind it didn’t concern him in the slightest.

If it had though, then he would’ve never stepped foot through the front door. This was his biggest mistake.

Anyways, thinking about whether I should finish it or not :P
