Black metal may be an extreme genre of music, but it is also a genre with a beauty all its own. The music of black metal is often complex and layered, with complicated guitar riffs and drum patterns that create a dark and haunting atmosphere.Β
One of beauty in black metal is in its lyrical content. While often dark and violent, the lyrics can also be very poetic, with themes of nature, death, etc. The vocals often contrast the darker themes of the lyrics, with high-pitched shrieks that are both melodic and haunting.
While black metal may not be to everyone's taste, there is no denying to its unique and compelling beauty. From the complex and layered instrumentation to the poetic lyrics, black metal is very emotional, melodic and powerful.

Black metal is quite varied like death metal, though it's not uniformly harsh like the latter. I'm not the biggest fan of really light and soft kinds of bm but it certainly has its charm. I've quite liked some more epic and melodic bm (Agatus, Dissection), equal to other kinds of epic and melodic metal I love really, though the dark and dirty side of it has also made some kick-ass music too (Nastrond, Mortuary Drape), but all styles have their good bits.
It's great to hear that you appreciate the variety of styles within the black metal genre as well as your specific favorites! Black metal certainly has a wide range of sounds and vibes, from the more aggressive and harsh styles to the melodic and epic ones. While I personally prefer the heavier and more intense styles, I can definitely understand the appeal of the softer and more atmospheric types of black metal as well. Overall, I agree with you that all styles of bm has their own good bits.
