it's been 1 month since my last post about bean plants. it feels a little longer than that though. anyways, i think i should do a life update because i'm bored and i have nothing better to do.
so it's been 1 week since school ended for me. a part of me kinda misses it, but the other part of me is glad i won't have to see that godforsaken middle school ever again. i'm in an art program at my high school and it's really fun! there's different classes you can take and i'm doing ceramics, art, and musical theater. i didn't know if anyone i knew would be there but luckily my best friend is in my ceramics class and my friend who's more like an acquaintance is in my musical theater.
in ceramics the first thing i made was a mortar and pestle. i want to make natural paint sometime, and all the recipes i've seen require the pigment to be ground. and also we were starting on pinch pots so it was really a warm-up exercise. and now i'm working on making the shadow wizard money gang wizards. i didn't finish the first wizard so i had to leave it in a plastic bag with a little water to keep the clay moist. i think it's safe to say i'm enjoying ceramics. my next thing might be one of those asian soup spoons and a soup bowl, because i LOVE soup. i also want to make beads and pendants for my friend because they make wire jewelry. i can make whatever i want!!!!!
i'm in the intermediate art class because i thought signing up for the beginner class was an understatement. even though the only thing i draw is my characters, i'm experienced in painting and stuff. the art teacher is actually really nice and we're doing watercolor right now. on the first day he asked us if we could say what kind of art we like and i said comics. so he talked to me and said something like "it's cool that you want to be a comic artist! you should bring in your sketchbook so i can see your art and give you some tips!" i didn't bring my sketchbook. not because i didn't want to, but because it's a little outdated. the book i draw in now is my diary from 7th grade (it adds the organic crunch to my drawings), but maybe i can ask my brother if he can spare me one of his sketchbooks. my brother got so many sketchbooks for his birthday. anyways, the art teacher told me that you shouldn't always draw your characters alone. i guess that makes sense if you find an overly complex way to explain it, maybe characters get lonely.
musical theater is... quite the activity. i have a lot of experience in theater since i was in the theater program in my county and i was in drama club all throughout middle school (and i plan on being in the drama club in high school). and it turns out the teacher worked at the theater program so she knows me from when i played in the aladdin musical. we're obviously doing a musical and it was either the spongebob musical or hair (NOT hairspray, just hair). we settled on hair and learning the song for it was... interesting. not in a bad way, but it's just wild. the musical is basically about hippies protesting the vietnam war. apparently at the end of the song everybody goes nuts. absolutely bonkers. making animal sounds and jumping at audience members and long, scraggly hair flying everywhere. so the teacher told us that if we want to get REALLY wild, we should make the animal sounds even before the song ends! and luckily i already have luscious locks that are sorta how jesus wore it (that's one of the lyrics in the song). i guess now i gotta wait until after the show to cut my hair.
so yeah, that's the art program. the only thing i didn't mention is the lunch. i'm pretty sure they make it themselves there because we had to wait 10-20 minutes for pizza last time. but it's nice to know that i'll (most likely) have actual food at school instead of the basic reheated "chicken nuggets" they give us. also, each class is an hour and the program runs from 10-2, but i only signed up for 3 classes. so i just hang out in musical theater with my friend. at least it's something to do with my time.
