Matt Elliot - Drinking Songs

(Recently hit its 20th anniversary!) A masterpiece of dark folk with that mesmerizing guitar playing, hypnotic almost. My god, underrated doesn't even begin to describe this man's work. Although this album is arguably the most popular one at least on Spotify. An audial heartache that HITS you for an hour straight.

Moderator - Midnight Madness

This band is a cocktail of music genres that's so refreshing to hear with every album. This one in particular is catchy as hell. A sweet concoction of hip-hop, soul and trap wrapped in a sick album cover. Listening to this feels like a vacation in my psyche.

Wheel - Preserved in Time

Psuedo-underground (doom?) band that wandered into my YouTube feed, and lucky me finding this gem in the rough! Thick thick riffs that GET you and it's got that sweet doom-y feel to it. My ears like it, I like it. Plus the cover got me, after so many art history papers, a glorious graphic by Kolomon Moser, "Frommes Kalender"... Art Nouveau my beloved...

Dr. Steel - People of Earth

Retired, unfortunately, but my god what an impact his music had on my childhood. I would say he was overlooked during the height of the steampunk movement in the early 2000s, but he got some good traction at least. Some of his songs got a ton of recognition online. Steampunk with rap (and I could say nu-metal) creates this iconic masterpiece, with a child-like influence of space exploration and world domination. The guy's a mad scientist type who creates evil toys to take over the planet. There's a documentary of him online that goes deeper into his villain persona. The artist even planned a whole TV show for 'em, but that dropped off :(  This album is a contraption of its own, beyond the average steampunk genre and into a whole new machine of noise.

FELLOW MATT ELLIOT ENJOYER SPOTTED. Whenever I try to get other people onto his music, I describe it as "music to die at sea to." Luckily most of my friends are the types to die at sea
