all of this is on tv like holograms, "old" tvs (current tvs irl) and "ancient" radios

"In the year [2359] a meteor came barreling down to earth containing a radioactive dangerous [chemical/mineral/ect]. Those who were in proximity were disfigured beyond repair, their minds scrambled. They were taken in for close watch and experimentation, scientists relentlessly/endlessly tried to save them. During an experiment where one of the worse off subjects had seemingly showed progress, the subject showed signs of intelligence similarly to monkeys or crows (Retrieving things when told, recognizing faces and holding grudges) the subject escaped, killing the lead scientist and freeing other subjects. The subjects tended to stay out of cities but started to breed and make their way into more rural areas. As you know, death tolls have been slowly increasing as the years have gone by so the people at [insert sciency name] have decided to randomly select 4 [people/teens/idk term yet] in exchange for a large sum of money to undergo experimentation to help combat the subjects. I, [main kinda antagonist name but also new main scientist] am here to announce our saviors. Cain Lucos from [town, state], Orion Starr [same as cain], Amber Oar [town, state] and Olivia Brookes [town,state]. We thank you for your sacrifices and your future cooperation. Teams will be by to transport you to your future home shortly."

broadcast cuts out with some static. we watch as the main 4 get taken away by the teams, cain sobbing, goes wilingly knowing his family needs money, orion is relunctant but knows fighting is futile, amber (deaf) confused cries out for her mother as she is taken, and olivia yells for her father, saying to pay them off and to pick someone else. he says nothinng and looks away because their company had gone bankrupt.
