it costs u 0 dollars to block obvious bait
the top blogpost on the site rn is OBVIOUS bait. it is written exactly to enrage people. it doesnt help you to comment on it. at best its a waste of your time and at worst its unnecessary stress and anxiety that might harm you.
i know a lot of you are kids and youve grown up only knowing how to engage with ragebait. you'll need to learn this now to make your internet experience worthwhile and not just ruining your mental health because you just have to keep commenting and condemning every single thing you disagree with!
sometimes the only thing you have to do is block and ignore! most of the time thats what you should do!
you're not gonna change some randos mind. just. BLOCK.

Literally it sucks that a bunch of the top blog posts recently have been bait/drama because people can't just ignore bullshit, and report it if it's explicitly hateful. I'm tempted to try and advocate for making top blogs based entirely on kudos and not how many comments it has.

now that i think about it, yes, i really wonder why its comments and not kudos based! was it that way on old school myspace? if not, then i think thats kinda stupid. it just encourages the ragebaiting.
they definitely should change that. that would obviously curb the discoursebait problem.

especially because bait usually WANTS the attention. i think there would be less trolls and bait if people stopped engaging.

REAL REAL REAL bait would die if people just turned to look the other way :sob:

yeah... modern socmed is built on ragebait, since it lives off of engagement, good or bad. its far easier to make someone mad than to make them happy. and these kids are all 14-, they dont know or remember a world when there was more to the internet than the endless chase for engagement.
its sad! i started using spacehey to escape the mindless cycle of socmed at least for a couple minutes everyday, but so many kids dont know theres possibilities for a world outside that mindless cycle :sob:
