Rolling Girl // Vocaloid Songs Explained

This entry includes suicidal themes! Viewer discretion is advised.

Rolling Girl is a masterpiece, putting it out there. Written and composed by Wowaka, Rolling Girl presents two main characters, the "rolling girl" (RG) and the unnamed male character (UMC), depicted as RG's depression. Within the first minute of the song, RG wants to live, searching inside her head for a reason, and all she finds are her past mistakes and failures. She says it's no problem hoping to find a reason in the future, but she starts obsessing over her mistakes, saying, "If it ends in a game of spot the difference," she'll roll on like everybody else. Some time passes, and she still can't find anything. UMC asks if she's had enough yet, to which she responds, "Not yet, because the end is not yet visible." She wants to get rid of her depression, trying to "choke" it to no avail as he smiles back at her. More time passes, and she is still unable to find a reason or see color (happiness). More bandages are seen on her, showing how the more she goes on, the more she gets hurt. She can no longer say that she's fine nor decide whether she wants to keep going or stop. She starts running away from UMC, saying, "Whatever happens is fine," knowing it's not true, causing him to catch her. He tries to convince her that it's time. "One more roll," she insists, "You will roll me somehow." UMC is getting impatient, repeatedly asking if she is done. She starts pleading with him, "Just a little more," "Pretty soon something will be visible." She is sure she will see "colors" sometime soon. "I will stop your breath now." This time, UMC is saying it. He pulls her by the throat, and she's too hopeless to convince him this time. She's seen crying as he does it, as she thought it would be painful and would regret it; however, UMC hugs her, and it's then she sees how fast it was and how it caused her to see the "colors." "Is it enough yet?" UMC asks again, "It's fine.", she says because she finally saw that it would be easier than to keep rolling.

"I will end your breath now."
