Blessed Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is here

I recently celebrated Yule with some friends; it was so lovely. Yule is a Pagan holiday that celebrates the longest night of the year. It's much like Christmas. I decorated my apartment with golden stars and I have a mini Yule tree that I decorated with pink and white baubles. I got my friend's presents and wrapped them up, everyone got a candle! Giving a candle is a symbol, it reminds us of the warm days to come. Which is fitting because it's freezing here at the moment. The wind has destroyed everything on my verandah. I made Sun King soup, it's a creamy pumpkin soup with cumin spice. I also made my first log roll cake which was exhausting to make. It took me 5 tries to get it right. But the results were amazing, it looked exactly how I wanted. We had such a nice night and for the first time ever, there were no boys. Of the 4 of us, we were all girls. That's never happened before. There's always been a boy around. It was nice to just have some girl time.  We plan on going to the art gallery soon so I'm looking forward to that.
