Xiaolu/Lu - he/they - 20 | a "starving artist" type that is desperate to feel comfortable both in their own self and in the world beyond their household. He comes from a third-gen immigrant family that lives in an old house, sitting on the border between farmland and the deep forest beyond. Oftentimes, he can be found at the creek that runs through the backyard, sketching the forms of old children's toys he finds along its shore.

Casper - he/him - 19 | Lu's long-term boyfriend, a talented guitarist and songwriter struggling to decide on a path in life. He stays with his partner over the summer, retracing the trails through the forest that they've come to know and love over the years. Though he senses the inevitable changes yet to come -- his education, the chance of moving much farther away, the ever-present threat of simply growing apart from his love -- he keeps hope that things will stay the same, for now and for as long as it possibly can.

Andras/Clyde - it/they - ??? | a nameless, inhuman creature, working as a servant of Andras, the demon of lightning and chaos. it has lived deep in the forest for longer than it could remember or count, protecting the beings that live within its confines and luring foolish humans deeper into the forest, to their inevitable deaths. A glimpse into the lives of the two that it meets at the creek, the love and seriousness and gentleness they give each other, leaves it startled, and despite its instincts, wishing to understand more.

storyline (cw for mention of physical fighting)

⸙ Clyde and Lu meet the strange creature during a walk in the woods, and return home startled, trying to understand what they had just seen. Lu connects some of the dots: the things flung into the creek, the screeching and hissing they would hear late at night, the feeling of eyes watching their every move as soon as they would enter the forest, and spend a rainy evening out in the yard, watching for the creature to return. Eventually, they get lured into the forest, and gets into a fight with the creature as it tries to hypnotize them. boom plot twist, Casper followed the light of Lu's flashlight just before they disappeared into the forest, and together, the two humans are able to stop the creature from trying to cause any more harm (not because of their strength at all, but because of the creature's own curiosity after seeing them earlier). 

⸙ the creature comes to understand that it's more interested in befriending the two than causing any more trouble, and the two come to understand its wishes, giving it the name Clyde and helping it see past the forest it had known for all its life. In this moment of unrest and confusion for the three, they bond in their mutual wish for stability, and grow courage and understanding with the help of each other. 

(i have a lot of little thoughts -- like Lu losing some vision in their eyes after the fight and their eyes going hazy because of it, the three falling in love with each other eventually, Clyde trying to figure out where he belongs, etc -- but i think thats the main important parts ANYWAYS i love them all so much, they're three little pieces of my soul and have a lot of inspiration from my own struggles of being trans/queer, as well as a lot of inspiration from ppl ive loved before, so like yeah !! ill post about them a lot i love them)
