(STORY BELOW)
Materials:
1) Dollar Store Frame
2) Wrapping Paper
3) Printed (or drawn and cut out) silhouette
4) Paint (Optional)
Instructions
If you want to paint your silhouette for a sharper color, make sure you do that first and give it plenty of time to dry. Use the back of the frame to measure the amount of wrapping paper to cut out. Glue your silhouette in the center of the paper, and voila! You now have a quick, easy, and eye catching decoration that is one of a kind! Enjoy!
The Story
"You're not saving the wrapping paper" turned out to be false when a dear college friend sent M and me a package of combined holiday and birthday gifts. I was mesmerized by the wrapping paper. I unwrapped everything carefully to save as much of it as possible...and then it lived with my craft supplies for an embarrassing amount of time I will not disclose. I did use some of it to make a collage on poster paper, but I wanted something more lasting. Something I could break out during the summer and hang up in the living room of the house we want someday. Nothing came to me for a long time. I was musing on it again recently, because I am trying to find more seasonal decorations, especially for Spring and Summer. Every idea I had was overkill, and then it hit me. Sitting in the waiting room of a dealership, waiting for our car's breaks to be fixed (they're fine now), I started looking at teapot silhouettes. I got M to pick a coffee pot, so that there could be one for each of us. They brighten up our living room, and I enjoy the simplicity of the silhouettes against the busy paper.
M keeps mentioning that it would be nice to have a set for winter as well. Of course, they waited until I was finished to point out that if I had painted the silhouette on the glass I could have had the ability to swap out the paper. XD That's alright. For winter I might want the tea and coffee pots to be a different color anyway.
