Welcome to room 305 - an unique take i wish was done more

Welcome to room 305 is a manwha about a 20 year old guy named Junghyun, he excitedly moves into an appartment with a roommate per recommendation of Sung Joong, a friend of his who is also friend with the roommate. As soon as Junghyun enters the appartment for the first time, he catches his roomate, Kim homo (yes that's his real name) watching gay questionable content.. Being homophobic (and also his surroundings being homophobic in general) he has to "bear" living with Kim who is gay, and more...

Now, i know this sounds like the start of a BL, but trust me it isn't, (even the author states it in the first chapter) i'd say it's even the opposite..

At first i thought it was some simple funny manwha about the daily lives of 4 roommates (because of the cover and the description on MangaDex)

But what it really was took me by surprise, is that it was a manwha covering the themes of homophobia, transphobia etc..

The thing is that there are loottts of gay manga and manwha out there, but rarely do they ever cover or bring up the topic of homophobia or they do acknowledge that it exists (by, for example the MC telling that they're friends with the person they're in relationship with to their friend or stuff) but don't really do much with it.

And depsite being a comedy manwha, it covers it seriously. And it's not everything that ends well, there are also some things that end badly which could hit close to reality (?).

Also the MC at the start is REALLY hateable but trust me he becomes less hateable.

At first i was confused by this manwha, because they almost all made it seem like being gay was like being some type of murderer or something, but then i realized that just liking someone of the same gender could really get you hated like that in real life and holy shit.

I've never seen things like that since i live in an area where being gay not THAT big of a deal, of course people have mixed ideas about mostly because of religion but they won't fucking punch you in the face to "fix you".

But this manwha came out in 2008, during that time in most countries gay people couldn't even marry each others and south korea just very recently (like some months ago?) recognised same sex couples rights FOR THE FIRST TIME.
