Why does Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 hit different?

I’m not just talking about nostalgia (I only started playing after like release version 1.7.10). While the simpler gameplay of beta does remind me of my first times playing minecraft (even though I didn’t play back then), it isn’t just that aspect which makes this version hit different.

It feels like I actually wanna do stuff in the world.

As in, whenever I play modern Minecraft alone, I just make a world, get iron, get bored, and hop off.

It’s even worse on multiplayer. Usually whenever I play modern minecraft on my friend’s server, I hop on, talk with the friend group whilst doing nothing in the world, and hop off.

Yet, when I play the beta world, I wanna do stuff. Build a decent house, get diamonds, build a herobrine shrine, a small quaint farm, and a world height limit diving board next to eachother, and even make a small artificial waterfall. All while taking pictures of my world’s progress. I wouldn’t have even THOUGHT to do any of this in regular Minecraft. Hell, my new main objective is to fill a whole map. On a version without SPRINTING. (luckily most of the land around my house is surrounded by water, so boat travel works.)

What are your guys’s thoughts?

(by the way, a thing that might factor into this is that I’m playing a 1.7.3 mod called Better Than Adventure. Maybe that’s why I enjoy this version so much.)

Honestly I think the lack of structures really helps with this, not to say structures are inherently bad but they are just way too common in modern Minecraft and give you so much loot mining can feel useless at times. The world being so empty gives you an incentive to actually use the resources you collect and build stuff in it.

Lack of sprinting also helps as instead of just running through everything you are forced to take your time with the game, that combined with the unique beta terrain makes the worlds fun to explore

BTA mod also helps tremendously, not only does it make the beta experience feel more complete with new features, it also fixes nearly all of my issues with modern Minecraft, that being that there is just too much to do that it's overwhelming, that a lot of features feel half-baked and are kind of useless, and one of the main components of the game, mining, just isn't as necessary as it once was.
Even if I do have any issues with the mod, they'll likely be fixed in a future update since the dev team actually listens to community feedback in their discord server

Honestly I could probably do an entire post on this mod but I'll stop now before it gets too long xD
