Internet saftey (For everyone under 14)

Hello kids, I'm here to teach you about how important it is to stay safe on the internet, since I had to learn from people older than me on the internet. I was about 9 years old when I started going online? I didn't know how to watch out for certain things so I always ended up in the same situation lmao

So here's some things you should look out for when you text people online!

Random Sex Roleplays

Just like any other pedophile, they love to roleplay with younger children. Why? Well it's simple, they like to pretend that kids are older then what they actually are so that they won't get in trouble.

If they start the chat with random hugs and kisses or ask you sexual things, please don't interact with them!! Instead, you should report them immediately.

If you feel like something is wrong, DON'T DO IT! If you feel like what they're saying is making you uneasy, don't speak to them at all. I know it's hard to tell an adult due to the way they start to scold you immediately instead if helping you, I wouldn't say keep it to yourself either though. So please, just block them.

If they ask you to send pictures or to meet with them on a different app, DON'T DO IT. They're trying to get you.

Don't Answer Personal Questions

If someone starts the conversation asking where you're from, don't answer them! They could either be trying to take your location OR try to hack you to give away your information to who knows.

If you are under the age of 14, DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR AGE. They will be looking for young kids to mess around with anyway, that's why they texted you in the first place. They know you're naive and are ready to gaslight and pressure you.

Don't Budge

If they try to pressure you into playing along with them, block and report them. You shouldn't be pressured to do anything you don't want to do. If they threaten to hurt themselves or even you, then you should DEFINATELY stop texting them. Just look at the message, don't say anything. Then you report it and Spacehey will deal with it. Don't let them fill your head with lies, they can't do anything to you through a computer.

Examples:

"Don't tell your parents you've been talking to me. I'll find out."

"If you don't meet me, I'll tell your friends your secrets."

Look For The Signs(Based off of internet research)

  • If an adult is overly nice and friendly to you, be cautious of them.

  • Child molesters actively target their prey. They might use the Internet to seek out a child they know from the neighborhood, work, or school.
  • They WILL LIE about their age just to get to you, so be warned.
  • A predator is typically an adult. During the initial interactions, they might lie about their age in order to gain trust.
  • If a predator learns that you play soccer, for instance, they might say, "Where do you play? I play every weekend. Which team are you on?" They will agree with you, but may not know the details of the topic, so ask them about details of what they claim is true.
  • If they ask to meet you in person, DON'T DO IT!
  • DO NOT let them isolate you from your family or friends!
  • One way I know that someone is really a predator or not is by the way they text, but maybe it's because of how long I've been on the internet. They may seem nice,  but there's always this uneasy feeling you get when texting them hun. If you feel it, leave the conversation.

  • I think that's it for now because talking about it is starting to make me uneasy. Please stay safe everyone! If you have any questions feel free to ask :)
