used to be hl2, but i have a bit of a soft spot for hl1 recently. its a lot more in-depth than i first realised, including smell mechanics and different behaviours depending on xen fauna, like houndeye behaviour changing when there are more or less members in a group. even cockroaches are unique in their behaviour, reacting to bright lights by scurrying away or running away from larger NPCs. crazy stuff for its time
