Finished The Godfather (part 1)

Welp I finished the first movie and over all my impressions of it are that it's great! However I feel like I enjoyed Goodfellas more. I did like the way the story was told and I can see that the director was really creative with how everything played out. I think the core theme of this film is dishonesty and how everyone will lie if it means they can get out of trouble to save their own skin. Sometimes people lie because it's beneficial, and other times they lie for petty and stupid reasons.

I like that this movie starts with Micheal being totally honest with his wife about the stories of his family (How he tells her about how that famous singer got so famous in the first place with the help of his father), and that the movie ends with him lying to her face about how he killed Connie's husband

"Is it true, babe :( did you really murk her husband?"
"Nah of course not I wouldn't do that lol."

Cut to all of the dudes in the office kissing his hand and calling him Don Corleone. Yeah Kay he definitely isn't like...the head of the italian mob now or anything, he's definitely just a business man or some shit.

The entire movie Micheal keeps trying to tell himself and his wife that he's not like his mafia family, that he's not ruthless or bad or a killer, but it's just actually not true. And I think him also being a "war hero" shows that. He is literally a soldier who came back from the war, of course he is a killer. And I don't think Micheal is the only character who lies, obviously the Godfather lies all the time. He has to as apart of his job.

All in all, I think he's an interesting person. I don't find him as compelling as Henry Hill though.
