Rambling more about The Godfather

I am really enjoying this movie so far I'm still only on the first one but it's really cool!!! I don't speak italian at all lol so sometimes when the scenes that are just in italian pop up, I google a video of the same scene but with Subtitles. Some people have said it's better to watch without subtitles at all because everyone's acting is so good. And I must admit that everyone is really great in this film. I was kind of expecting Don Corleone to be this ruthless evil man, but I am surprised to see that he actually cares about his sons and loves them.

However I do think its a bit ironic that the family business which gives them their lavish lifestyle is also the reason for every bad thing to happen in their lives. The only way currently for Don Corleone to ever live a somewhat normal life is if he just turned himself into the police or something (but then the other gangs would undoubtedly try and kill his family to gain more power and influence so)

It's like he's in a game he can't leave ever, and even though he tried to keep his other family like Micheal out of it, they ended up getting dragged into this anyways. It kind of makes you wonder if he really does love his kids, because if he did would he even still be fully involved with the mob, or let them take over aspects of the family business? Probably not.

I kind of think Al Pacino looks menacing most of the time, even though he's supposed to be a "civilian" someone who is only on the outside of all of this dirty business despite his family. And I like to think that everyone else thinks Micheal looks really creepy and scary even though he's generally a nice guy. And at the same time, I also think he looks like a boring business man lol. All the other mobsters are dressed in sharply cut suits, but his looks plain and like something you'd see any man wear to like an 9-5 office job. Even his hair is combed like a boring every-man's cut. Even tho Micheal claims to be on the outside of all of this, it's really telling by his own actions that he was always like his father and brothers, able to fully be involved with this dangerous line of work.

Everyone was probably babying him because he was the youngest or something, or because he tried his hardest to do other things outside of the mob. But ultimately I think him going to war probably changed him in ways his family just didn't understand, it "toughened" him up in a way nobody else would be able to see.

I can't wait to see how this first movie ends! I'm sure it'll end in a super exciting way!

I watched it without subtitles and it's the same but more confusing

lol I definitely saw a lot of back and forth on how to properly "watch" the movie. Imo it is really confusing without the subtitles and I like to know the context behind what they're saying in scenes. I get that the actors are great at what they do but I also love the writing and I wanna know what they're saying sometimes
