okay so recently ive just been having and obsession with dumplings. I made soup dumpling completely from scratch and omg they're so good. and don't get me started on the Trader Joes chicken soup dumplings and chicken cilantro wontons. ughhh so good I've been eating them like everyday, except everytime I go to trader joes (which is a lot) the soupd dumplings r sold out :( please stop buying them so I can have them all to myself.

Soup dumplings do slap!! Idk if youve ever had Din Tai Fung but thats my go-to place. Unfortunately, their portions have gotten smaller, blander, and more expensive over the years thanks to the boom in younger customers (I remember 10+ years ago most of the customers were like Gen X/Boomers and the food was wayyyy better). Theyre still good but not for like eating it everyday.
I need to try Trader Joes chicken soup dumplings; havent been there in a long time since I moved.
What did you make the filling out of? Was it easy to keep the soup inside the dumplings?
ooh ive never tried Din Tai Fung, not sure if there is one near me but ill look into it! I j made a super simple filling w chicken and then like ginger, sesame oil, green onion, rice vinegar, salt/pepper, etc. I mixed gelatin w broth and then once it was set folded it in the wrapping which i think is such a cool method. i didn't wrap some of the dumplings tight enough so a bit of soup did leak through, but besides that it wasn't difficult at all!
and omg you have to go to trader joes sometime soon i love it there <3
