The Vampires Library

I don't remember exactly when i had this dream, maybe sometime in 2021 or 2020? Maybe 2021. It stuck with me for some reason. I wanted to put it into words here, from what i remember.

I don't remember a lot of the beginning. I was in some tall tower, two of them, connected like a H. You know the teen titans tower? How its covered in glass? That's what this was like. I spoke to a man, he was a vampire I was pretty sure. Not that he looked like a vampire, but i could just sense it. I could just tell. He seemed well put together, and pretty nonchalant to me being there, even though I'm pretty sure I didn't belong. I was looking for something, or maybe a way out? I was looking for something. He waved me off, and told me to go talk to his brother, and told me where to go to find him.

I walked through the halls, the halls were modern looking. I happened upon the place i was supposed to go, it was a short door, completely out of place for this modern looking building. The door was short like i said, not *too* short, but to the point where you would have to lean down to fit through it. It was like a door to a castle, the top of it curved into an arch, it was made of old, dark wood planks. Thick ones at that. Look up "Castle wooden door" that'll give you a pretty good idea what im talking about.

Anyways, i opened the door and walked into a library, i assumed it was the brothers personal library. The room was large, like the size of a cafeteria maybe? The room was circular shaped, there were no books along the walls, there was an arch at every 1/8th or 1/16th of the walls, raising from the walls kind of like the architecture of this image.

The ceiling was raised into a dome shape, the arches shaping it slightly, but the majority of the dome was left unaffected from the arches, still in a perfect dome shape. The lines from the arches branched off like geometric veins, shaping different sections into the dome. The walls and the dome had a purple and golden color pallet, though the vast majority of the gold was on the dome. The dome itself was a deep purple, constellations and stars mapped into each of the sections in gold.

Even though this doesn't look like the dome at all, this pin i found best represents the feel of the dome.

Inside of the library, the bookshelves weren't very tall. If you've ever gone into the children's section of a public library and they have those short shelves, that's pretty much the height of them. They were made of out a dark wood. Unlike the circular shape of the room, the shelves were in horizontal rows, only stopping for the walkway. There were only four walk ways, imagine a circle and a plus inside, that's how they were positioned. At the center of the room, the floor was raised slightly, probably about 6 or so inches off the ground. The raised margin of the room was also circular, not very large. There were 3 steps leading up to the raised margin, the purple carpet didn't stop though, it covered it fully. On the raised margin was a lectern, holding a large and enchanting book. Behind and surrounding the back half of the raised margin were two tall book shelves, that curved to contain the back half of the raised floor. It looked to me like it was some sort of personal study for someone- the vampires brother.

As i walked into the library, i stopped at one of the short shelves, taking a seat on the carpeted ground and pulling a couple books out, i only opened one though. Quickly reading a random page from the random book, i realized that this whole library was filled with powerful, ancient, forgotten witchcraft. Suddenly, the vampires Brother came in. He seemed more vampiric than his brother that i met originally. I don't remember how he was dressed, but he was dressed to match the enchanting academic feel of his library.

Once he noticed me on the floor, reading one of his books, he quickly walked over to me and started to panic, visibly shocked and well- panicking. I don't remember what he said exactly, but it was something along the lines of how i wasn't supposed to read/find these, how a mortal wasn't supposed to know these things. It was as if i found something i wasn't supposed to, and that he would be held responsible for it. I remember him being quite cute and a attractive young man. Seemed like he was in his mid-late 20s, but he was a vampire too, so i guess he was timeless. I remember looking at his questioningly, obviously oblivious to what i had just done or what trouble i could have just put him in. You know how in the harry potter series, muggles aren't supposed to see or know about the wizarding world? It seemed kinda like that case, like i was a muggle who just stumbled into Dumbledore's library or something. (Really hope that doesn't make me sound like some harry potter fan gone haywire lmfao, promise I've only ever seen the movies 🤞) But i specifically remember him saying, and calling me a "mortal". I think i woke up after that.

I don't know when my fascination with libraries began, I'm honestly not that big of a reader. I read fanfiction a LOT, and really do adore metaphorical poetry, my teachers say I'm very good at understanding it and writing it. But its not like i go to the library often, or at all. Libraries are just so visually appealing to me. I think my fascination with libraries began with my love for the concept of archives, and archiving things. I've always been a bit of a hoarder, so hording information or things like that is an easier and more satisfying way, i think. I've actually got a discord server all to myself where i archive, categorize and sort fanfiction i like. (weird ik but let a gal live.) I've also got notes on my notes app where i list all the memes that have been popular throughout the year, so on, so on. Point is, something with libraries really connects with me.

I once told my online friend about this dream, he comes from a different country and culture than me, where dreams mean a lot i guess. I'm American, so cultural beliefs isn't something that's really talked about, and isn't really something i know anything about in general. Anyways, when i told him about the dream, especially the part about the vampire guy freaking out, it really peaked his interest. I don't remember what he said exactly, but he pretty much told me how it seems like my dream *really did happen*, and that i found something i wasn't supposed to. I don't believe him obviously, but sometimes i like to entertain the thought.

I don't know exactly *what* about that dream made it stick with me like this for so long. The enchanting library, the contents of the books, or the vampiric mans strange reaction maybe? Maybe its the fact that i remember it so well or remember it so descriptively even after these couple years. I don't have to go digging around in my mind to remember it either, like the case with all the other dreams i can still remember. Not saying i remember it clear as day, its still a foggy memory and I'm sure my memories of it have been warped over time. I sometimes find myself searching for anything akin to that library in things like the harry potter movies, or just magical academic related media in general. Or just simply in dream related forums online. There's always that small part of me in the back of my mind that's on edge, just *waiting* to see something recognizable, or something that would prove to me that the library from my dream was more than just that- a dream. Its strange.

Anyways, this was just a rant of mine that i wanted to put out on the internet, I know no one will see this- since no one sees my other blogs either, and that's fine i guess. This isn't proof read either, so if there's any typos or weird language, sorry.

ike,

what an amazing dream!!!! i don't know too much about dream theory, but just by seeing how descriptive you are despite it being so long since you've had the dream tells me enough that this one is really meaningful to you and your life story!!
maybe it's a sign to start a home library...? (the other option... would be it being a sign to become a vampire LOL)

what kind of fanfic do you usually read? do you write some as well?

hugs,

ty! yes this dreams strangely stuck with me for awhile now.

i usually read character/reader fanfics (cus im a lil degenerate lol) but if you'd like a recommendation of a actually good story, id suggest Halfway to the Sky by Thanatopsiturvy on AO3. Its about a falmer boy whos been taken and raised by a scholar in winterhold. When he turns 11/12, a dawnguard redguard comes to retrieves him for Gelebor. During their trip to meet Gelebor, the story delves into his first experiences with the outside world, what he is, and what his father did to get ahold of him in the first place. Its unfinished atm, but i think theres 20 or so chapters out now!
