The best 3d style was the 90s style because in the 90s they taught 3d animators in the how to light and texture everything in such a fucking awesome way... which is WHY scott cawthons art style is so good (he went to school for 3d animation in the 90s)....
90s 3d animators always used things like incredible texture and character to every object and hard dark shadows that's why FNAF still holds up visually compared to every other recent horror game that gets released... And they actually knew lighting techniques like "DEPTH"..
LITTERALY WHY DO THESE IMAGES LOOK 100X MORE INTERESTING AND MORE AESTHETICLY PLEASING THAN ANY OTHER PIXAR MOVIE EVER MADE

sometimes, when you work with limited materials, you come up with something even better than if u had more advanced materials. this probably rings true for 90's 3d graphics aswell

No, you're right, instead of obsessing over realistic textures, they focused on creating a genuine atmosphere that draws you in, that's why the game graphics in the 90s really shine when it comes to capturing the atmosphere.
I was about to write a comment that basically said this
I 100% agree, the textures really created the atmosphere, now a days they go to realistic and it’s just like “oh yep this is what this looks like” since it’s so based off reality. It’s nothing interesting or gives you any sort of feelings

These are all very cool pictures! I feel like there's a lot of charm put into these that don't exist in 3D models today.

I agree, I don't really care for remakes, I'd actually prefer the old janky 90s graphics
