Leaves in the Wind

Seventy four wishes. A coin that landed on tails. The girl cursed with athanasia. Such a fate is mine and mine alone. But that doesn't mean it's permanent. The future is not an inevitable series of events, predestined for all who continue to exist. Rather, it is like a liberated thread, flowing unburdened as we weave our own tale.

And so, the loom of the future continues to turn.

Though I failed the fifty-fifty chance, that does not mean I had to give up all hope of obtaining the character I truly sought. Kazuha, the poet of a thousand leaves... Was to be mine, at all costs. I mustered all the fortune from within my own body, and from the ambient world around me, and I imagined the world in which I obtained Kazuha, that split timeline in which he was already mine, and I reached out to that more fortunate Trevor Ushiromiya, and took his remaining luck as well.

I repeated this ad infinitum, until an infinitely dense sphere of serendipity had formed within me, like a black hole that absorbed all positivity, and repelled negativity as if it were a magnetic core. I gripped this sphere with my internal body so tightly that is threatened to shatter into millions of tiny particles, each of which capable of changing the lives of any who could possibly grasp such a thing, and prepared to wish.

A single ten pull. The fate of the world hanging in the balance. All my life, all my hopes, all my dreams, and all my wishes... There was no better opportunity than now. All the cards had been played in my favor. All that's left to do is call the shot.

My finger twitched with vigor, sending 1,600 primogems far into the atmosphere.

I watched as that star flew through the azure sky with a sense of wonder. Truthfully, there was no excitement, and no anticipation. For the outcome was predestined.

That cerulean star slowly shifted chromatically, turning a brilliant golden color. With that, I knew my plan was a success. I clicked through the 3 star fodder until he was upon me. Kazuha... Was home at last. My beloved maple-leaf elegist. I shall treasure him forever. With that, I stretched while simultaneously cracking my knuckles, breathed out a sigh of relief, and set out to level him up to a state of usability with the rest of my characters.

...Hopefully the other universes' Trevor Ushiromiyas don't mind my borrowing of their luck... Keheheh...
