big mouth

ive wanted to make this post for like 2 days ever since this convo was brought up between me and my sis but i just havent got a chance

this post might lose me sum friends ngl

since the release of the new seasons of Human Resources (a big mouth spin off show) some people i know irl and online have brought up how disgusting big mouth is again, and personally i disagree

i want to clarify im not a big fan of big mouth in general, ive watched 2 seasons and have just seen clips here and there as well heard and read some opinions on it so i may not be the best source for this but imma spew my thoughts anyways

the show big mouth, for those who dont know, is a show that revolves around middle schoolers and puberty, it deals with other topics such as misogyny, depression, poor home life, etc. but its mostly a bunch of kids dealing with hormones

while i completely understand how this show may be distasteful for some, it has very raunchy humor, but calling it perverted or cp is unjustified, the topic of this show is PUBERTY, something that happens to specifically underage people and is very inherently sexual.. simply teaching or reminiscing about this is not perverted. of course theres the fact the do it in some crude ways, which is true, but its not for the purpose of sexualizing it. in fact all of the more "gross" scenes are portrayed very awkwardly and not in anyway romanticized. not to mention this show is also based on the creators own experiences with puberty. the show never sexualizes children, its simply about an inherently sexual topic, u cant sexualize something already sexual.

also like i said earlier, the show deals with other topics, topics that (from what ive seen) are handled well and well executed.

anyways, some people will probably unfriend me for this and thats ok, i just cant understand how the show is bad, at least from a moral standpoint. (once again i have not watched all of it, so take this with a grain of salt)
