horror movies

i was wondering if anyone found old movies scarier than newer movies? me and my pal rodrick had a conversation earlier about how the older generation seems to be afraid of more older horror films rather than the new more improved horror films. which is quite odd to me, i enjoy old horror films as they are cheesy and nostalgic and very comforting to watch but i’d never watch them if i wanted to be afraid, if anything i’d choose one of the newest films, like jordan peele directed movies and anything done by a24. a lot of psychological horror tends to freak me out a lot more than the classic slasher genre. what do you guys think? old horror or new?
