When did MLP become a thing for "scene" & emo?

My question to the younger folk is not why, but when & how? Granted I've mostly seen it on this website, but when did MLP/Brony shit become such a big thing for the emo scene? I lived through both and it was extremely rare for someone to be both those things.. Very rare. By the time g4 came around scene was near it's end. So you can imagine it wasn't a big thing like vocaloid, final fantasy & anime was for scene.

My guess is the younger folk have a nostalgic attachment to it, and it sort of distorted the view of what people now assume what emo is. Cuz honestly most of us never did that shit lol

On a side note, something I don't see get brought up enough(if at all) is the significance of pokemon in emo. That I can confirm was as big as invader zim, if not bigger. Anime also around that time like shattered angels, death note, kanon, haruhi suzumiya, heavens lost property(Just off the top of my head.)

Personally would love it if people brought that same energy to those things like they do with mlp to look more scene.
