First week of teaching done!

I finished the first week of my art class today lol and it went pretty okay. My student was kind of really all over the place today, though. She's pretty impatient, but then again she is 6. I remember being like that when I was little. It also doesn't help that she's the only kid in the class so it's natural to get bored pretty quickly.

I'm thinking of not bringing my laptop next time because she gets super distracted by wanting to watch videos and I have to constantly get her to participate in what I have planned that day. Next week we will be finally using Pastels and stuff which too a 6 year old are like fancy crayons you can mix with your hands. We'll also be using paint and what not.

I'm enjoying teaching her so far, but she does get bored easily and I am a teacher not an entertainer. I'm definitely going to have to be stricter with her, but I don't feel comfortable punishing kids at all. Today she said something really silly T_T I was trying to explain to her what value was in colors and she went "Ugh miss, do you have to explain everything?"

I told her that yes I do have to explain everything, because I really want people to understand what I'm trying to teach. I talked to her mom about her behavior in class, so hopefully next week she's a lot more behaved.
