One of my favorite birds, the Long-Billed Starthroats!
One of the larger types of hummingbirds, coming in at about four inches long, theyβre about the size of a Violet-Crowned hummingbird(10-11cm long)! Their population is sadly decreasing :'(
Like most hummingbirds, they are solitary creatures that usually fly solo for most of their lives. During mating season, male hummingbirds hold territory, and the females briefly visit to breed. Both males and females may mate with multiple partners!
Afterwards, the females seek out places to build nests and raise their young on their own!
