Kate's Plate Podcast

I started a podcast after the shocking passing of Trevor Moore. After a month of grieving the death of a childhood hero, I picked myself up by my boots straps and decided all this grief I would put to work. I had the title and idea just not the courage. When I found my courage, buried under the house (that's a Brand New lyric, just too good not to throw in) I put my words into action. And on my podcast there is a 6 part episode dedicated to Trevor which helped me through the last part of my grief.

I talk about things I think, I say, I like and I do. I keep them short because I can't upload longer audio, and I like the concentrated thoughts, I can ramble if not put into check. My brother works in communication and was a radio DJ at our high school. The story goes he was the first to play country music at Huntington North in the early 90s, and of course broke the barn door wide open for more genres to come through. Later the next decade, my friend Bo borrowed my Nirvana Greatest Hits CD and uploaded their songs into the high school radio library, again a first, as I was told. I've sang since I could talk, and acted since 7th grade, theatre and the arts were my life, my passion. But I was jealous of my radio DJ brother, I would have loved to do that too but my gifts were somewhere else. I'm older now, and wiser, and figured out how to do both on my terms, on my time.

I've loved, not just enjoyed, love recording every episode. I am proud of my work. It is not fancy. It is bare bones and I am an old fashioned gal in many ways and I like it that way. When I don't stutter or mess up words, which I'm not that worried about, I'm good on the mic. I listen to professionally made podcast and learn, they make little mistakes too. But the integrity of their message is the important part, or the interview. I keep the same foundation in my writings, which I jot down in my butterfly book or my in my introduction templet. My topics are about my life, mostly, I want to share my stories, my opinions. I use to feel that they weren't needed, as everyone else has a podcast. But I'm doing this for me now.

Always,
Kate Killmonger.
