Random rant on fixer upper type shows + first blog so yay

Normally I don’t pay much attention to these kind of shows or things in general, but I’m bored and just wanna explore the site and do as much as possible so yeh

I genuinely hate Fixer upper type shows a lot, it’s a good concept for a show where people come in check out a home and fix it for the better. However, a majority of these shows are a copy and paste of white couple go to normal ass house that doesn’t actually need to be fixed considering there’s nothing wrong with it and decide to just paint over everything with white. Which don’t get me wrong I can appreciate a light or white theme inside a house and it does look good, but after seeing it replicated so many times with every single house that gets “fixed” within the show or when the people designing the house decide to take away or bleak out something interesting in the house. IT GETS ANNOYING. It starts to make me think these people don’t even have style cause anything would basically match as long as the whole house is white. For example tho, when I was watching a episode there was this small nice house with a sort’ve light pretty green theme going on and it was cute and legit could work and it really only needed a few adjustments and decorating, but no the couple looks at it in disgust and decide to paint white over it, and another example which I see a lot is when the couples cover up a nice fire place and make it flat losing it’s brick texture and painting it white. Have people forgot that houses Can in fact have personality? Have people forgot that white doesn’t always look good, especially where in this day in age where I see a bunch of millennials hopping on the trend of having a White House or trying to get as close to it. And to that I say why? Obv I’m very biased because I remember growing up in comfortable homes where nothing was white and everything was warm and comfy looking, the type of houses I grew up in would be considered ugly now and it’s so weird cause it’s a regular home, people must’ve forgot homes Can look like homes and should, obviously people can do what they want to their houses but I feel like many forgot that houses with interesting colors like green, orange, brown,  colors youd never see are very much able to designed to look nice in a home, I’m just tired of seeing people just make their house white and acting like they did something when they didn’t. Let houses have personality and be more colorful and comfortable and stop calling regular homes “ugly”, 1. Shelter was never meant for aesthetic purposes 2. No one can judge anyone home considering everyone place is either considered ugly or is bleached white with a rare perfect in between. No but im just tired of seeing houses be basically watered down to white, instead of being allowed to actually be interesting looking and actually have it’s cool features and all enhanced and highlighted
