does anyone else get unruly-like mad at bad trailers? like. imagine..you just watched the BEST movie evr, like oscar worthy and everything. so u decide "hey, I should go look at how people reacted to this movies trailer; so I can see people be as excited as I am!" But when you watch the trailer..and watch the reactions of the trailer. IT SUCKSSS!!1 because the trailer was poorly made! they either added too much of the movie into it, basically spoiling it, or they added too little, making the movie seem horribly boring.
I watched the get out trailer again today 4 like the fourth time and here it what i got, they added too much, but also too little? like they added too much of the wrong scenes. I would've liked to see more scenes of the hypnosis, kidnapping, and subtle moments. But instead they added the killing scenes. Which makes like. no sense? Why would you show him killing his kidnappers in the trailer? OHHHH and don't get me started on the framing and music. since they director is Jorden Peele and this was one of his first horror movies, moving away from his comedy series. It was really important to frame it in a specific way. But the way they edited it made the trailer look like one of his comedy skits? like the giant cuts were supposed to make it look suspenseful, but i feel it was more like. idk. headache-inducing???? it was kina hard to watch without getting whiplash.
The music they used in the movie was gold, using donald glovers "redbone" was a great fit for not just the opening, but the entire movie. I feel they shouldv'e used more slow-paced, suspenseful, and eerie trailer music. Maybe even incorporating the opening "Run Rabbit" fading into the end of the trailer like Pearl did with their 1920s star music. Watching peoples reaction to the trailer drives my point more, 70% of people didn't know if it was a comedy or not. Also!! im NOT saying i could do better lolz. jorden peele luv u!!1 i really did like how they framed the iconic get out moment where andre takes control again, and the cop scene was super important to the story so I'm glad they added that. But it's not a jumpscary-big cut kinda movie. its more slow paced and eerie, and the trailer shouldv'e fit that.
