In the Heights would have been a great movie if...

As a casual fan of broadway and movie musicals, In the heights was the one musical I expected the blow me away due to the trailers showing the amazing visuals and bombtastic music numbers. Nowadays I have a love hate relationship with the movie in the same vein as Hamilton and feel the movie would have been great to me if it made specific changes and alterations. ITH would have been a great movie if the casting was diverse to reflect the melting pot diversity of the latine community (mainly feature afro, asian, indigenous among the white passing and light skinned casts.).flesh out the side characters instead of using them as props for the main love story, cast a better singer and actress for Vanessa (Melissa Barrera was average at best as Vanessa), and add Mrs. Rosario back as a character since her presence was very important to the Nina, Kevin and Benny storyline since the new character within the movie was a walking latina stereotype.All in all, Those were the changes that ITH should have made to make it a more interesting movie because the movie strayed away from the stage musical and pretty much became a generic hollywood musical a ;a La La Land.
