chugging along...

Kitty Cat hello everyone!!! sigh... i have been busy and tired with work x_x but also with other fun things like toki pona... i have learned a bit over the last couple days and i've also ordered a copy of the first book! mi wile pu!! the discord is plenty helpful, but i want to practice with my friends on here too! i am getting a better grasp of how to communicate my intended messages in a grammatically correct way (or at least a non confusing way) and i can even understand a good bit of conversation that i see! Very Awesome...

i also managed to get a copy of cave story onto my 3ds, it looked really nasty and blurry but i got it to launch in the native resolution eventually! so happy! i swear i used to have it on my dsi, but when i booted that up it wasn't there, not even available for redownload... maybe i poofed my eshop account as a kid? who knows... either way, i feel excited to play again, especially as i must have improved since then (hopefully) so maybe i can actually beat it now LOL. the title theme still rocks my socks off. i also keep daydreaming about getting a "new 2ds xl", specifically in the white and lavender color, but jeez are they expensive! even if i sold my current "old 3ds" i don't think it would be the smartest purchase for me right now

i also just discovered another food i am not that fond of... well to preface, i Love love love tofu right? i think it's fantastic as it is like in miso soup, but also great at soaking up whatever flavor you want via marination. i usually go for a specific mix, varying on what ingredients i have available, something like this:

corduroy's tofu marinade

soy sauce

rice vinegar

oyster sauce

garlic powder

red pepper flakes

brown sugar

and then i fry it on the stove! it's pretty tasty every time, as long as i don't put too much vinegar. the thing is, i always get medium firm tofu, but today i used some Hard tofu my dad got me... i have a very open mind to new foods, and i figured it couldn't be much of a different experience than Medium firm. but i noticed the difference right away! it definitely felt Harder and the texture was much more akin to a sponge than my usual tofu. after i pressed it a bit it soaked up the marinade at an unexpected and impressive lightning speed!! this actually made me quite nervous, as the medium tofu usually needs more pressing and time to soak up, so i didn't account for the entire marinade being Absorbed in record time... so, with all these factors out of the way, here's my review

taste well, tasted like tofu definitely! but this time i also tried a salty fish sauce my dad bought instead of the oyster sauce, and may have put too much rice vinegar in like always, and the tofu soaked up much more than i expected... so it had quite a stronger and saltier taste than usual. i had it with plain white rice so it didn't bug me that much. if i had one, i would have opted to also dice some avocado to balance out the saltiness. overall not exactly the best but that's on me, and the tofu itself was fine

texture unfortunately this was my least favorite part... texture in food is fairly important to me, and especially as i was expecting a similar experience to Medium firm (i didn't notice it was Hard until i was ready to prepare it) i don't think i enjoyed it that much. maybe i would enjoy it more if i tried it again, but perhaps in some brothy ramen this time to soften it up.

overall i definitely could have prepared myself more, and taken a different approach to cooking it. maybe refrain from pressing it? and adjusting my marinade? i'm sorry Hard tofu, it's not your fault...

anyhow, on the topic of food, my dad also found some eggs for $1.99 per dozen!! so now we have nearly 3 cartons of eggs, for 2 people who don't really eat breakfast on weekdays... LOL... but in my case that's because i don't wake up early enough to! it looks like i'll just have to boil some at night so i can take 2 minutes in the morning to eat them before work

oh! and i also tried a limoncello la croix... i'm markedly not the fondest of sparkling water, but i keep trying it because i want to be. LOL. and i think i enjoyed it! i really like lemon, and the aftertaste was much nicer than other brands or flavors i've tried. yay!

well, there's all my thoughts for the day! i will catch up on notifications soon!

your turn!

have you tried any new foods lately? what did you think?

have you been learning a new language, or planning to? which ones?

if you could revisit any videogame right now from your childhood, which one would it be?

thanks for visiting! see you later!!
