Validation means nothing. Nowadays people will talk about validity, conferring it to a lot of aspects of humans. At first glance this in completely normal and positive, but after thinking about it for about 5 seconds or so I realized phrases such as "you're valid", "your feelings are valid", "your thoughts are valid" and "your body is valid" are utterly and completely devoid of real meaning. This is trivial to see if we realize the negative of those phrases make no sense, as validity is a concept centered around agreeing with extremely specific and methodological criteria; you can have invalid, idk, coupon codes, passwords, inputs in a given program or system, arguments inside a logical and/or axiomatic system, something like that, but objects of material and immaterial reality don't comply to any different from ontic rules. Someone cannot be "invalid", they can be evil, immoral, unethical, dangerous or any of such judging adjectives, and the same can be said to feelings, thoughts and to some extent bodies.
Okay, so, why do people say such things, specially as words of affirmation? My only guess is that they do it as a quick and easy way of comforting people, but without committing by using "big" and meaningful concepts. I am however unaware of why this issue never comes to the mind of anyone that receives such meaningless words.
